Koyle Carmenere - $13.00

Koyle Carmenere

Viña Koyle was born from the tradition that the family Undurraga carry in their blood; a family dedicated to winemaking for more than 6 generations, started by Francisco Undurraga Vicuña in 1885. In 2006, Alfonso Undurraga Mackenna bought the Los Lingues estate and immediately began with his son, Cristobal, to plant the mountains with red grape varieties, starting the story of Koyle Family Vineyards.

D.O. Colchagua Valley 85 % Organic Carmenere 10 % Organic Tempranillo 5 % Organic Petit Verdot the grapes are hand-picked in selected lots, carefully sorted and sent to stainless steel tanks where they go to cold maceration over five days (50ºF), for extraction of aromas, flavor and color. Finally, warm maceration takes place to extract the most rounded and silky tannins. One soft cartridge filtration takes place before bottling. Aromatic and spicy with notes of pepper, paprika, red chili flakes, and vanilla, quite restrained but red plums and cherries show through. The palate exudes bright red berries, cranberry, red plum, blueberries, and notes of bell pepper, jalapeno, and a dusting of cocoa round out the palate.
