Light Fruity Red
Lavender Row Pinot Noir $12.00
While French Burgundy may be the highest echelon of this grape, the warm and rugged south of France has a climate similar to CA and can make easy drinking affordable Pinots too. This affordable French beauty offers notes of toasted oak, rhubarb, strawberry, red flowers and crushed stone. But the nose! It truly explodes with the lavender that is grown all around the vines.
Castelfeder Pertico Rosso $12.00
Such a pretty little wine! Deep, ruby color and a intense aromas of cherries, tobacco, blackberry. Just a little oak to mellow things out . The Cab and Merlot bring just a touch of richness and licorice but the Lagrein has the leading role with its bright red fruit flavors.
Yes it is indeed. Only Aussies would turn Shiraz sparkling! Displays a vibrant lush garnet color and a bouquet of rich berry fruits, dark cherries and soft lingering hints of integrated oak. Flavors of bright juicy red fruit, blackberry and sweet plum are held in check with silky tannins and a soft finish. Go on! What do you have to lose!?!
From the cool Central Coast bringing ripe red raspberry and strawberry, tart cherry pie, white pepper, and clove with a lovely, earthy complexity. Great now but even a couple years should show increasing depth. A prime example of Santa Maria's potential and one of our favorite CA Pinots.
Jacques Girardin Bourgogne $27.00
The Girardin family have been tending vines in Santenay for 450 years. 15 months in oak and though young and quite structured with a robust tannic backbone, itís more feminine on the nose than expected. On its way to being an truly epic Burgundy, itís still gorgeous today in all its young muscularity.
Organic and perfectly balanced. While the Challonaise is a bit warmer, this 1er Cru is higher elevation and responsible for one of the best values in premiers. A year and a half in oak from just a couple acres.
These near 70 year old vines are in the highest and steepest corner of the vineyard, where only a very meagre layer of soil covers the bedrock. Only 6,000 bottles produced. Hand-harvested and 18 months in oak, about 20% of which is new. The wines is delightfully aromatic, complex and concentrated, with flavous of black fruit and kirsch, plush texture and well-integrated tannins.
J.Wilkes Deal $58.00
While Napa gets the buzz and the latest rapper/race car driver/NBA player/Kardashian wanna-be buying up vineyards, down south in the Santa Maria Valley, some remarkably elegant wines are being crafted out of the limelight. Tectonic plates crashing into each other have created lateral valleys that run perpendicular to the coast. These funnel cool moist air through the valley creating a remarkable cool climate AVA despite being quite a ways south. I've been really impressed with these wines and we're happy to offer cru members a really special deal. Buying any of these at the vineyard runs $30 a bottle, wine.com the same. Luckily, some wineries and winemakers like what we are doing here at Bitto, supporting wines by smaller producers, ignoring the bogus ratings, encouraging guests to branch out, etc. To help us show what this valley can do and to help you get into these wines at the lowest possible price, they have provided this unique threesome for us to sell.
