Givry is further south but at a higher elevation bringing ripe fruit with solid acid backbone. The Clos Saint-Pierre is a monopole of the domaine and it is the highest on the hill - it has eastern exposure and a red soil, it normally gives the most tannins of the three cuvees and is the most age-worthy.
Organic and perfectly balanced. While the Challonaise is a bit warmer, this 1er Cru is higher elevation and responsible for one of the best values in premiers. A year and a half in oak from just a couple acres.
