Tasting
We always love welcoming winemakers and those who represent good wine to Bitto Bistro. Thursday, October 17th from 6-8pm we welcome Cristina Della Gaspera representing Tomasella from the Friuli region in Italy. She will be bringing with her a delicious line up of their wines. You will have an opportunity to purchase a flight (or multiple), and chat with her about all things Tomasella and wine! As always we will have live music on Thursday, so come over and enjoy a glass with us!
The Tenute Tomasella winery is located near the village of Portobuffolè in northeast Italy. In the lands of the noblewoman Gaia da Camino, the daughter of the “good Gherardo” mentioned in Dante’s Inferno.
It has 30 hectares of vines in the DOC Friuli Grave area and the DOC Piave area, with 7 hectares in Friuli and 23 in Veneto. The winery is renowned for respecting traditions and the environment, and for its production of intriguing new wines that are unlike the typical wines of the area. The winery makes a wonderful variety of wines that we've sold in the Wine Cellar and at Bitto for most of our time here.
The first years of production, saw an interesting line of Sparkling wines made according to the long Charmat method (remember the Ose?) More recently, a line of still wines from Friuli Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Friulano. has been added. The winery’s principles remain the same and focus on getting the best from its vineyards in Friuli and Veneto.
